City View Press began with the somewhat simple premise that often a small publishing company may be able to provide services and products in a way that is more personal and focused on the writers and authors it represents rather than working relentlessly in an effort to maximize the revenue it may generate. Don’t get us wrong. There is nothing inherently wrong with big publishing houses, or making money, that’s just not who we are. We live and work by the simple maxim that in our case, less is more and in the end, our products and services will be better if we focus on this guiding principle.
We are a proud, Maine-based company that seeks to publish a few books each year that represent our state, New England, our general philosophy toward life, and the type of books we like to read. We hope our readers will become longtime friends and acquaintances and grow with us.
Each year we plan to publish at least four books – one memoir or biography, one anthology of short stories, an original work of fiction (novel, novella, or anthology of short stories), and lastly, a work of nonfiction. That’s the plan anyway.
We hope to dedicate one of the books each year to veterans or veterans causes, and as a company, we will work diligently to include student work in our anthologies.
If you have any suggestions or ideas for us, we’d love to hear from you. We are located in Portland and you can reach us by email (info@CityViewPress.com) We promise that we’ll write back.
Thanks for listening and please keep reading.
